What we offer to students
Chemistry majors may obtain a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. Students planning to be professional chemists should seek the Bachelor of Science degree that meets requirements for American Chemical Society certification.
We also offer Bachelor of Science degrees for students interested in biochemistry or forensics and a Bachelor of Arts with teacher certification. Pre-professional programs are designed for students seeking admission to medical, dental, pharmacy or veterinary school.
Students majoring in chemistry are urged to participate in independent research (CHE 492). They are also encouraged to take at least one year of a foreign language, one course in computer science (CSC 260 or above) and math beyond Calculus II.
